This webinar is so marvelous that dazzled three (3) equally important and interesting topics. The 3 speakers are so excellent in sharing their key notions so packed with salient details and intellectual perspicacity gained from their experience. Acquisition of a second language is a question of obvious importance to educators and how to teach a second language has also become a matter of concern to the teachers. The strategies shared (there are 9 of them in actual counting) are so helpful and useful. I've been teaching ESL for 17 years in an International School before I joined DepEd and I practically applied these strategies in a synthesized manner. I said "synthesize" because there's none one best strategy that you can employ to make your teaching effective but it has to be in a combination or synthesis of a lot of strategies you tailor-fit to suit the needs of the learners. Reading is the most crucial skill to master for SL and FL students. Realizing how crucial reading is for students, reading teachers see the great importance of developing their reading ability. The inputs of the presenter to the reading topic are paramount in my stint as the reading coordinator of the school. I found the applicability of the materials. The PhenoBL topic or phenomenon-based teaching and learning through the pedagogical lenses of phenomenology as the recent curriculum reform in Finland or "Finnish miracle" as they called it, is quite fascinating that has a smart policy for accountability. The phenomenon-based approach to teaching and learning invites educators to break the boundaries of traditional teaching and move forward to interdisciplinary explorations of phenomena. Thus, learning is always learning of something, for particular purposes, and from someone. Thanks to the expertise of our perspicacious speakers.
