Great study habits can significantly improve academic performance, and require less effort than less effective study methods. Here are some good study habits that involve less effort but can still help students succeed:

Start studying ahead. Start studying for exams and tests earlier, rather than procrastinating until the last minute. This allows you to break up the material into smaller chunks and gives you plenty of time to review and understand the material.
Focus on understanding rather than memorizing. Focusing on understanding the material rather than rote memorization allows you to retain information better and makes studying more effective. Additionally, it also requires less effort to grasp concepts rather than memorizing every detail.
Use active recall. Study by asking yourself questions about the material you are trying to learn, rather than just re-reading or passively watching videos. This technique will help you remember the material better and requires less effort than constantly re-reading.
Take breaks. Taking regular breaks can help you avoid burnout and maintain focus when studying for longer periods. Breaking up your study sessions into shorter, more frequent periods can also help you retain information better.
Study in a quiet and distraction-free environment. Create a study space that is free from distractions and noise. This will allow you to focus better and require less effort to study.
By following these study habits, students can improve their academic performance, while requiring less effort to do so.
