What a lifework was that in gearing to produce leaders who possess a noble character in whom leadership ability is controlled by steadfast principle to stand amidst obstacles and lay the foundation of character. According to Martin Luther King, Jr., the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education. Character is a set of personal traits with good values imbibed for good manners and right conduct. Character formation is an umbrella term that helps individuals develop positive strengths called virtues and grasp what is ethically important in situations and how-to for the right reasons. This underpins educational leadership. John Kotter defines leadership as what the future should look like, aligns people with that vision, and inspires them to make it happen despite challenges. Thanking this aspect to IGP who provided this webinar topic with remarkable speakers who facilitated to us with significant takeaways like the types of leaders with excellent character formation: situational, participative, transformational, transactional, aspirational, and servant leaders among others.
